God, that is distressing. The sad thing is that the suburbs will never have what the city had (a vital mix of working and living, night life, socio-economic diversity.

It is shocking to think of the amount of investment that was destroyed to make those parking lots. In their attempt to attract drivers they have succeeded in eliminating almost everything worth driving for. So sad...
